Pastebot – The power of paste!

Remember when copy and paste was brand new on the iPhone and it was all you could do to restrain yourself from blocking and copying everything in sight just for the sake of doing it? Well get ready to have that feeling again with Pastebot.  It puts the awesome back into copy and paste, and it takes it to a whole new level!

Main Screen

It was a couple days ago that I heard about this app on Twitter in a rather random fashion.  I was following the developer for a piece of Mac software and they happened to tweet about this app and suggested checking it out.  Clearly I did so and once I decided to fork over the $1.99 for it, it was just a matter of time.

Upon opening the app for the first time you are greeted by a queue of place holder clipboard items.  Some text entries, a couple of pics etc.  You can get rid of this if you like, I did.  Then you can get to work.  Doing what?  Well going on about your normal day to day use of the iPhone. Just realize that if you copy something to the clipboard, you can load this app and do several things to that copied information, whether it be a picture or some text.

Filters Screen

I see that I need to take a moment to give a run down of what this app is capable of first.  This app will pull in whatever is currently in ‘clipboard’ on the iPhone and allow you to modify and/or save that information.  Modify?  Yes sir.  You have a set of filters that will allow you to modify the information you have within the app before doing something with it.  There are filters for modifying text and some for changing pictures.  It all depends on what you want to do.

Now I mentioned that you can save the information too.  This will extend the usefulness of the built in clipboard greatly.  No more do you have to use what you just pasted right away or being copying something else.  Now simply copy it, open Pastebot and it’s saved.  You can organize your scraps of information into folders if you like for ease of use.  You can title them and edit them directly if you like.

Publish Screen

Now as if all of this wouldn’t be handy enough.  They have a free application for Mac computers that will sync Pastebot with your computer.  This is where the real magic can happen.  Both the computer and the iPhone have to be connected to the same network, which makes perfect sense.  Are you sitting down?  Good.  Anything you copy into your clipboard on you computer is available on the app too, if it’s running at the time.  Further more you can paste to the computer from the phone with just a press and hold of the item on the main screen!  I discovered this by accident and wound up pasting a tracking code into this review 3 times before I realized what was happening.  Imagine my surprise when I put the phone down and looked back at my computer only to see the tracking code there.  My surprise quickly gave way to delight.  I am very pleased with both the function and the form of this app.

This is a well put together app.  As I sit here I’m trying to come up with something that they could add or change.  I simply can’t at this time but I’m sure given enough time I could, maybe.  If you block and copy frequently you need this app.

Cost: $2.99
