Slango – and slango was its name-o
The release of this app is perfectly timed with the recent Facebook trend. Oh, you don’t know? You look up your name in an urban dictionary and post that as your status. So having an urban dictionary with you that would post to Twitter or Facebook directly might be kind of handy, don’t you think?
It’s really a pretty simple app and I like it for that reason. At least I think it’ll be good for a couple of laughs. You are first greeted with a ‘word of the day’ screen. This single feature gives the app a little life and personality. It’s like a fact of the day only with slang. You’ll be able to translate what those pesky kids are saying about you in no time!
You have the ability, of course, to search on a word or term and see if there is an entry. This is where you get to search on your name and see what fortune cookie like morsel of insightful comedy comes up. I don’t know what your name holds but mine (seen to the left) was deadly accurate (I wish).
I would like to point out the “+” in the upper right hand corner of the app. This is for marking a word or term as a favorite so you can quickly find it later.
Now I remember mentioning something about being able to share the search results with others via the major two social networks. It’s really only a pop up menu and nothing beyond that, but what more do you need? Without this feature though this app is useless. You can email the definition too, but does anyone actually do that anymore?
Cost: $.99
