Textie – Send Texts, Email Messages and Photos
Since I have an iPod Touch, I’m always looking for cool apps that let me send text messages (so that it can be more like an iPhone). I’ve tried a few and I haven’t found a favorite yet. Textie is the newest one I’ve downloaded and so far I like it better than the rest.
You can send messages to anyone who has the app on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. You can also send and receive messages to and from email address and most phones. I tested it both on a mobile phone and email address and it works perfectly. Responses are received very quickly. An added bonus is the ability to attach photos to your messages. I also love that you get push notifications about new messages. For me, push notifications is a plus.
Conversations are set up in typical IM style and shows shared photos inline. Texie is ad-supported but you can removed the ads for a small fee. I also noticed that in messages where the recipient is on a mobile phone, you have an option to call them. Of course this doesn’t work for me since I’m on an iPod but I’m sure it comes in handy for an iPhone user.
