Zing! v1.0

I have to say that when I first heard about Zing! I didn’t know what to expect.  I was a little skeptical as to whether it would have any value whatsoever.  I headed over to the App Store and downloaded it and loaded it, still not really knowing what to expect.  I know I could have just read what it said on the App Store but where is the fun in that?  I like to be surprised, and as it turns out I was pleasantly so.

Zing! robotZing! humanZing! standardI guess I’ll start with the fact that there are three screens, each with the same six sounds, only in a different voice.  Now, it’s all about timing.  I’ll admit you’re going to want to walk into a party or office with the app already loaded up.  Then, just let the hilarity ensue!  If you’re like me then everyone at the office always pops their head up out of their cubes, like a gopher, whenever they hear something interesting.  Well this got their heads popping.  It was like hunting – I just had to wait for the right moment, then BAM!  Hit the sound effect.  At first they laughed then they were interested in the app.  Here comes the only down side of the app: I didn’t see my phone again for the next 30 minutes while everyone played with it.  So just a warning – you whip this app out at a party and you’re not going to see your phone for a while.

You’ll notice I haven’t told you what sound effects there are, and that’s for good reason.  I don’t want to ruin your fun of hearing them fresh for yourself.  I was told about an Easter Egg in the app.  Put the phone in a pocket and jump around – it should make extra noises, again different for the different screens.  If you’re feeling particularly pedestrian, you can simply shake the phone, but where is the fun in that?

What I thought in a nutshell!
Use-ability
How user friendly is the app and its interface?
Practicality
How likely is it that someone is going to use it?
Neat Factor
Will this app wow you?
Overall
How did it fair overall?
